Most BCA students do not lose marks because the mathematics is hard. They lose them because nobody told them what a proof question wants.
The method is usually understood. The marks go missing in the arithmetic before it — expanding a 3×3 determinant under exam pressure.
The differentiation itself is rarely wrong. What goes wrong is choosing the wrong variables to hold constant before you start.
Students who understand induction still lose marks on it, because half of what is graded is never the algebra.
Finding these three from raw numbers is easy. From a frequency table, most of the marks are in a method students never fully memorise.
Across every subject we teach, the same handful of small mistakes account for more lost marks than any genuinely hard topic.
A formula you have to think about is a formula you do not really know yet. Here is what belongs on that smaller, faster list for each course.
