BCA students in Noida sit under a few different universities — CCS University, AKTU and, for colleges across the border in Delhi, GGS Indraprastha University. The paper codes differ, but the mathematics does not change much: discrete structures early on, then matrices, probability and statistics as the degree goes on.
The Subject Most BCA Students Underestimate
Mathematics is usually the paper BCA students worry about least at admission and most by the end of the first semester. There are two reasons for that. The first is that many BCA students did not take mathematics seriously in class 11 and 12, or dropped it entirely, and discrete structures arrives assuming a comfort that is not there. The second is that it is taught as if it were unrelated to the rest of the degree.
It is not unrelated. Set theory and relations are the foundation of the database paper you will sit later. Graph theory is how your data structures course models networks and traversals. Probability sits underneath every piece of machine learning you will meet if you continue. Matrices are how graphics and image processing move things around.
We teach it with that connection kept visible, because a subject you can see the point of is dramatically easier to learn.
What the Batches Cover
Discrete Mathematics and Structures
Sets and their operations, De Morgan’s laws, power sets and partitions; relations and their properties; functions, including one-to-one, onto, invertible, floor and ceiling, and recursive functions; propositional and predicate logic; recurrence relations; and proof technique — which is usually the part nobody explains properly.
Matrices and Determinants
Operations, rank, inverse, solving systems of linear equations, and eigenvalues, with the computing applications kept in view rather than treated as pure algebra.
Probability and Statistics
Conditional probability and Bayes’ theorem, the standard distributions, measures of central tendency and dispersion, and correlation — the same tools you will use again in any data paper.
Graph Theory and Boolean Algebra
Paths, cycles, trees, traversal and colouring; Boolean expressions, simplification and logic gates. Both of these are where BCA maths connects most directly to the programming side of the degree.
How We Teach It
Slowly at the point of understanding, then hard at practice. Every definition is made concrete before it is used — a relation is drawn before it is written in set-builder notation, a graph is sketched before it is described by an adjacency matrix. After the idea has landed, we drill previous-year questions from your own university until the paper holds no surprises.
Batches are capped so that questions get answered in the room. If you arrive weak in class 10 and 12 algebra, say so at the demo class. That gap is completely normal in a BCA batch and it is fixable, but only if we know about it.
Common Questions
I did not take maths in class 12. Can I still cope with BCA maths?
Yes, and a large share of BCA students are in exactly that position. Discrete mathematics does not assume class 12 calculus — it assumes clear reasoning, which can be taught. We do usually need to rebuild some class 10 algebra first, and we plan for that rather than pretending it is not needed.
Which university syllabus do you teach?
We teach to your college’s syllabus, whether that is CCS University, AKTU or IP University. Bring your syllabus copy and a previous-year paper to the demo class and we will map the batch to it.
Do you cover statistics as well as discrete maths?
Yes. Probability, distributions, central tendency, dispersion and correlation are all covered, in the semester your university places them.
Can you help just before the exam?
We run extra doubt sessions in the run-up to semester exams, and that is when they are most useful. A crash course two weeks before the paper is not the same as a semester of teaching, and we will tell you honestly what is realistic in the time you have left.
Where do you teach, and when?
A, Ground Floor, Z 397, Sector 12, Noida. College batches run in the later slots so they do not clash with your lectures. Call or message on WhatsApp for the current timings.
